Webpage Introduction.

Hello Students,

Welcome to your academic vocabulary resource webpage. Here you can work on enhancing your academic English skills through practice on word meanings, word families, and word+preposition combinations.  The vocabulary chosen for this site comes from  Schmitt & Schmitt's (2005) textbook Focus on Vocabulary: Mastering the Academic Word List which is based on Coxhead’s (2000) academic word list (see below for textbook image). The chapters of this webpage correlate to the textbook and could be used as a study tool for students working with this course book.

In addition to vocabulary work, there is a small section dedicated to reading that provides practice in developing the important skills of reading for details, inferences, and main ideas.  I plan on continuing to develop this site so as to cover every chapter of the textbook. I hope you will find this electronic resource to be a useful tool to enhancing your academic English skills. Enjoy!
